Furious! Irate! An Easter Present.

Dear Lady Doing an Infomercial About MArketing With
My Art as a BackGround Without My Permission,
Why are you doing a company sponsored info-mercial in front of my personal art installation?
You babble about about creative˙commons community blah blah blah
and never got permission for using my art in your company sponsored (Symantec, MicroSoft)
infomercial from me!
The Fungus installation was my most personal work ive ever done, whos point was as stated in the artist statement:
"purely self gratifing, avoiding reproduction, avoiding all packaging", and yes, marketing!
I feel like that boy from that U2 cover, they stole my installation's SOUL!
My art has appeared without permission as backgrounds to public access TV shows
where parapalegic performance artists have grind core sex and I never freaked out.
What can you do, right? they weren't selling anything (except all the other channels i suppose ... )
People can screen grab my art, not a problem. Not everyone can afford to buy art.
(and they arent selling anything in front of it!)
People podcast and download Attaboy and Burke songs for free all the time and thats cool with us,
Last year i denied rights to use my art in a Hillary Duff movie to avoid it being subject to bad storylines
but something about THIS makes me even more qweezy because its like, ironic?
and its about community based marketing!?
Quantifing word of mouth viral enthusiasm IS genuine regular MARKETING!
People who use this "new (corporate sponsored )anti marketing marketing"
jargon are just like their higher paid counterparts! YOU ARE THE SAME.
Your Powerpoint presentation pie charts( http://www.horsepigcow.com/pinkomarketi ngnet2.pdf ),
with its revolution graphics do not make you a
"rouge marketer."
One last thing. Ive never understood is:
EXACTLY WHAT DOES A MARKETER DO?
I Understand what a Salesperson does, theyre necessary. They Sell stuff.
i understand what a designer does. They Make Stuff.
and I understand what an Advertising Person does. They get the word out.
but a marketer? seems like theyre reactionary leeches who exploit or
try be the first to Co Opt yesterday's street trends, emerging technologies
and focus testing to create a job for themselves.
You are the fiends who made artists and writers into "Content providers."
and are responsible for making good ol' capitalism into something unbearable,
an irritating culture filler -like replacement, a "me too" environment ,
filled with the latest jargon speak, microwaved to luke warmness with "synergy."
I would force you to take down the video, but instead, I think if people
see it, they will pee their pants with how dumb it all sounds.
It is my Easter Gift.
